Dr. Kimberly A. Tyler is an associate professor in Sociology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Her areas of research include child abuse and neglect, high-risk adolescents, mental health outcomes, sexual victimization, HIV risk behaviors and social networks.

She currently has a K01 Career Development Award from the National Institute of Mental Health, which supports five years of funding on her research project entitled, “Neglect and Abuse Histories Among Homeless Young Adults.”

Dr. Tyler was recently awarded a grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse to study social networks and HIV risk behavior among homeless youth. This project begins September 2007.

In terms of teaching interests, Dr. Tyler has recently taught graduate seminars on High-Risk Youth and Adolescents, Child Abuse and Neglect, and Family. She has also recently taught an advanced level class in Contemporary Family Issues.
